Orange ball emitting a flame like appearance with a slight tail, it was lit up on all sides

No, just silently glided across the sky

I was taking my dogs out for a last walk and saw the object through the trees. I went around the corner for a better look and watched it glide silently over head and towards the pennines. I live near Glossop underneath the flight path for manchester airport, so I know it was not a plane or helicopter as you can hear them a mile off. This just glided silently and emitted an orange glow from evry angle. With the planes and helicopters you can see the headlamps, but as soon as they start to turn you can see the profile of the body. This was just an orange ball lit up on all sides. Very spooky and exciting.
